Bondi to Bronte Cliff Walk

It's May 27 here at Bondi Beach. Less than a week to the official start to winter yet it's 22 degrees, not a cloud in the sky and just the gentlest of sea breezes. A perfect Sydney day. What better time for taking the cliff walk to Bronte. You can go further, all the way to Coogee, but it's an hour there and back to Bronte and that's enough for me.

Starting from the famous Bondi Iceberg's pool you head south leaving Bondi Beach behind.

The walking path winds its way around the cliffs and as you reach the top of the cliff at Mark's Park you get spectacular views down the coast. You can see the historic Waverley Cemetary on the right.

Soon you get your first view of Bronte .

A bit further round and you get your first view of Tamarama and Mackenzies Beach. Mackenzies isn't normally a beach, it's just rocks, but every ten years or so the ocean and sand movements combine to create a beach. It's popular with the locals who hope it won't go away soon.

Lots of people use the cliff walk, mostly at different speeds, walking, jogging, pushing babies. It can be difficult making a passing move in the traffic.

Plenty of fabulous coastal vistas.

People meditating.

People taking pictures of people.

The board riders are having a good day.

Along the way you see bird life....

.... exercise stations for those interested in more than just a walk....

.... points of historical interest .....

.....information about the area.....

.... and what's in the water.

The cliff walk is one of the most popular things you can do around Bondi Beach and there are always people out there doing it but after a brisk hour walking the track it's good to get back to base.

Lisa and Bernardo are new to Lush since we last put photos on the blog.

Here are a couple of shots of Bondi Beach today - Sunday 6 May 2007. It's 24 degrees and just the gentlest of sea breezes. Can you believe the weather could be so perfect. Winter starts in 3 weeks!!
