Bowl-a-Rama at the Bondi Skate Park

The Bondi Skate Park always attracts a few spectators who watch the locals do their thing in the suicidal 'swimming pool'.

This weekend the big crowds have come for the Bowl-a-Rama featuring the world's best skateboarders - this year including the skate legends Lance Mountain and Tony Hawkes.

The fans love it.

Here's some of the action. One of the competitors doing a rails run along the edge.

His shadow's on the wall - the skater is up in the air somewhere. Scary stuff!

Sorry, but you won't catch me doing this.

Global Warming - No more Bondi Beach

There's been a lot of talk about global warming, climate change and the threats to our planet from using too much fossil fuel.

The University of Sydney has done some modelling and suggest that Bondi Beach could be completely under water as a result of rising sea levels by the year 2100.

This is what they think Bondi Beach would look like in 2100 if the predictions about rising temperatures and sea levels are accurate. Scary stuff !!

South American Festival

Another of the annual events at Bondi Beach is the South American Festival. It always attracts big crowds. There are plenty of tents selling South American products, clothing and arts and crafts. In the Pavilion courtyards they have plenty of South American food and a great music festival.

It's a big day for Lush on Bondi, specially when the weather is perfect like it was this year.

We're all looking forward to next year. South American festival is always a great day!

Lifeguards Challenge party - 2007

If you've been following this blog you'll know that each year the professional lifeguards from the beaches in Sydney, the Central Coast and the Illawarra come to Bondi each February for the Annual Lifeguards Challenge.

At Lush, we're happy to host the after party where all the super fit competitors relax and talk about the great feats and figure out how to win next year.

A few of the boys ready for the announcement of the winner.

The girls from Lush make sure the trophy is in good shape and full of beer! Emma, Jeanette and Maud have done a good job.

Jeanette hands the trophy to Bondi's head lifeguard, Hoppo, for the presentation.

Hoppo congratulates the captain of the Wollongong team who are this year's winners.

And of course, like most things on Bondi Beach this summer (and last) the proceedings are filmed for the popular Channel 10 TV show Bondi Rescue.

The Wollongong boys empty the trophy for the camera.

The Crew - January 2007

Here's the crew at the end of January 2007. Tanja (Germany) leaves this week, and Jeanette and Emma (Sweden) have bought a car and will be travelling north in a few weeks. Juan (France) is also leaving shortly. Vince (France) is the new chef and we have a couple of new guys starting in the next week or so.

These guys have been fantastic (along with a few who have left for home or gone travelling already) and got us through a hectic summer season with plenty of hard work, lots of laughs and hardly any tears.

Thanks to all of you.
